Armored Car Crime Report

A suspect armed with a rifle and wearing a ski mask and military-style fatigues held a Brinks driver at gunpoint outside of a Chase Bank branch and stole an undisclosed sum of cash before fleeing the scene.

The robbery was captured on the guard’s body-worn camera which shows three masked suspects armed with assault-style rifles ambush the guard during service of a bank ATM. The suspects pulled cash cassettes from the open ATM before fleeing the scene.

A 20-year-old Clearwater resident, Jorge Serrano Espinoza, has been sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in federal prison for his role in a brazen armored truck robbery. Espinoza and two accomplices targeted an armored truck on June 9, 2023, held the driver at gunpoint, and stole $150,000. His accomplices were previously sentenced to terms of 9 and 10 years.

A teenage suspect was shot while attempting to rob an armored car crew at a Bank of America. Suspects deployed pepper spray during an ambush of two crewmembers, who were otherwise unharmed. The second suspect was able to flee the scene.

Multiple suspects robbed an armored car crew while they were servicing a standalone ATM on the exterior of a Walmart. Reports suggest that the robbers were not able to access the secured compartments of the ATM, resulting in one crewmember being pepper sprayed. The assailants fled the scene.
